Welcome to Ceramics
Ceramics 1 is a survey course that introduces students to the many facets involved in the production of clay ware and objects. The skills taught in the production of clay ware are the pinch, coil, slab and the potter’s wheel. Other skills taught are the de-airing of clay, use of specific tools used on the potter’s wheel and tools used to sculpt the clay and glazing techniques. Students will gain an understating of the different firing temperatures and stages of firing will be explained and demonstrated.
